As co-founder of ACEP with David Gruder, I have always held the vision of ACEP as an association of like-minded professionals and kindred spirits representing a multitude of disciplines who hold individual and global healing as the imperative in their hearts.

ACEP has developed from those founding days in early 1999 into a strong organization of over 700 national and international members that welcomes diversity and stays true to the ideals of professionalism, collaboration, mutual encouragement, and joy while validating the art and science of therapeutic energy modalities. Each President and Board member has further developed the basic concepts of the organization with unique contributions.

Our large conferences, many publications, growing research, and local networks represent our identity to the public and colleagues as well as to individual clients. There is a sense of delight in sharing among our talented presenters that is infectious to newcomers—they sense an organization that has “heart.”

ACEP’s certification program—with tracks for mental health counselors and allied healthcare professionals--pioneered in May of 2006, is a logical further development of the organization to define the fundamentals of the emerging discipline encompassing energy therapies. With expansion there has also come awareness of the central core of a new personal ethic of caring that encompasses our understanding of innovative modalities, the subtleties of informed consent, dealing with psychological archetypes, and nonordinary states of consciousness as well as the right use of power in a multi-dimensional therapeutic relationship.

Energy Psychology is a remarkable family of self-help and practitioner methods that are at the forefront of upgrading and redefining the personal healing and development process in the 21st century. ACEP is the equally remarkable non-profit international multi-disciplinary organization of innovators, practitioners, researchers and donors dedicated to uniting the Energy Psychology field and forwarding its professionally responsible and ethical development. I am honored to have been one of ACEP’s three founders, to have served as its first president and to be one of the principal architects of its certification programs.
